NEWS January 2023 - Christopher is in the process of updating this website.
NEWS January 2021- Christopher is producing a series of YouTube videos entitled 'Preserving Analogue Film Photography For Future Generations: A short series of instructional videos' - The first episode 'Why we need to learn basic camera repair skills' is online now and can be viewed by clicking here.
NEWS January 2021- So a new year and, due to Covid,a new lock down for the United Kingdom. More delays and postponement of plans are the order of the day- yet again. Christopher has to be very careful as he has to shield, due to disability, but he will be continuing work upon the book 'Blackburn a town and its people' as well as moving onwards with the creation of more educational photographic videos for his YouTube Channel.
NEWS December 2020- Christopher would like to wish all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!.
NEWS November 2020 - 'Blackburn – a town and its people'. EXCITING PHOTO BOOK NEWS!. Whilst the past year has been one of setbacks and disappointments, Christopher does have some better news. After the success of his 'Blackburn - a town and its people' retrospective exhibition, held back in 2018, a local Blackburn business 'DES Group' has come forward to support, by way of sponsorship, the publication of a selection of the images in a photographic book. This generous support has enabled further restoration of the negatives and has allowed for the project to expand to include commentary from many of those depicted within the images. Christopher has written more on his blog, which you can read by clicking here.
NEWS October 2020 - Covid Update - This terrible illness is hurting so many people. It touches everybody. Artists/creatives are especially having a very hard time because venues/theatres/galleries etc are closed. Exhibitions are cancelled and it is difficult to plan ahead to arrange future shows. The UK Government is doing very little to help self employed creatives. Christopher has had to cancel /postpone exhibitions and the film projects are now on indefinite hold due to having to shield. He will be continuing with plans to create more photography educational videos for his YouTube Channel. More news will be posted soon.
NEWS September 2020 - Covid Update - Christopher is classed as vulnerable, due to disability, during this Covid emergency. This means he has to shield to stay safe as he is within the 'at risk' groups. This means that so many projects are now on hold. He will be continuing with plans to create more photography educational videos for his YouTube Channel. More news will be posted soon.
NEWS Covid Update - This is a difficult time for so many and Christopher would like to thank all the key workers who work so hard to keep us safe. Stay safe, all of you.
NEWS June 2020 -Christopher has used a Minolta Autocord MK1, alongside with the Rolleicord VA MK11 he recently reviewed, for over 40 years. He has always enjoyed using it. So much so, he recently purchased another. Christopher tends to favour his Rolleicord for social documentary work and uses his Autocord for fine art monochrome nudes and landscapes. The Minolta Rokkor 75mm f3.5 lens on the Autocord seems to shine, in his opinion, when photographing foliage and flesh. If you are looking to purchase a Minolta Autocord TLR and need some advice or are looking for instructions on its use, Christopher has uploaded a new video to his YouTube Channel . You can watch it by clicking on this link - The Minolta Autocord 1 - the 'Autocord' for you! - review with usage instructions and image samples.
NEWS May 2020 - Christopher has used a Rolleicord VA MKii for over 40 years. It has served him well and images, made using it, have been published and exhibited widely. This, along with his Minolta Autocord TLR - review coming soon - are his most trusted work horses. They have never let him down. If you are looking to invest in a TLR and it has to be a Rollei, but you are on a budget, then the Rolleicord VA MKii could well be the 'cord' for you. If you are looking for some advice on buying one or need some instructions on its use, Christopher has uploaded a new video to his YouTube Channel . You can watch it by clicking on this link - The Rolleicord VA MKii - the 'Cord' for you! - a review with usage instructions and image samples.
NEWS April 2019 - This site is currently being updated with new material along with other improvements. Christopher will soon be launching a Youtube channel and a Patreon page. Watch this space.

a Town and its People' project. This project, in part
funded by North West Arts Council in the 1980's, has been revisited
due to its upcoming exhibition at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery
in 2018. From here it is hoped that it will tour the UK.
NEWS
Christopher is currently co-writing and co-directing, with Dean
Sipling, the film The
House Rules. This film will explore the UK Governments
pernicious policies that have targeted disabled people, resulting
in deaths, and will do so through the genre of the English ghost
story. Think of an M R James ghost story filmed by Ken Loach. Given
that he has been disabled since youth; Chris maintains an active
role in the campaign to promote disability awareness and rights.
He is particularly focused upon fighting the pernicious impact of
the anti-disabled policies of former UK Prime Minister David Cameron.
- images
can be viewed here. These appalling attacks upon disabled
people, by the UK Government, have recently been condemned by the
UN via the Convention
on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Yet, despite
this, these policies are increasing in severity under PM Theresa
May.

NEWS
It
would be an understatement if I were to say that I am 'concerned'
about the level of attacks, by this Liberal Democrat and Conservative
Coalition government, upon members of the British population who
happen to live with a disability or impairment or care for someone
who has. I
live with a disability and I am primary carer for someone who also
lives with disability. Whilst we have always experienced prejudice
we have both noticed that this has changed in frequency, tone and
nature. I blame not the perpetrators of said prejudice but the current
British government. This
coalition government has placed scapegoating at the heart of its
economic and social policy - it is what drives it, what promotes
it and, sadly, what is delivering it. Such
policy is causing suffering and there are cases of people being
driven to suicide.What
makes matters worse is that this government is 'governing' under
a 'Coalition Agreement' that has no mandate from the electorate.
I have
been critical of many a government before, whatever its political
leaning, but I have never, until now, been scared
of my government before. As
campaigners we have been patient, we have used the courts, the House
of Commons, petitioned etc but to no avail. Even when we win the
courts rulings are ignored or laws are changed retrospectively in
the Governments favour. Many people, who live with disability or
care for someone who does, are being forced to take action in the
form of demonstrations etc. I
have been documenting said actions and, in some
cases, taking part. Later in the year I will be placing a large
selection of the images on this website. In the meantime, you can
see some of the images, and details of government
lies etc, at myblog

"Erotica always has played a major role in our society: From
fine art painting and photography to films and home cinema and now
the internet - The large number of sexually themed website's is
testament to the popularity of erotic website's. Erotic Web Sites
is another exceptional title from Feierabend’s very successful
Cube collection devoted to eroticism. More than 900 images explore
themes such as female and male photography, couples, fetish and
homoerotic photography. The internet provides easy access to these
subjects, but the flood of tasteless web sites can make searching
the web a hazardous business. Erotic Web Sites is the perfect guide
to the most artistic, well-designed and exciting sites available."

The
human physique has always been a central theme of the fine arts.
Every body possesses its own singular beauty, and a photographer
must recognize this unique style in order to express it. The simple
bending of a knee or the tilt of a chin brings out new forms and
character traits. Arising from the interaction between artful technique
as well as a trusting relationship between photographer and model
are veritable masterpieces of nude photography. Top contemporary
photographers from Europe and America present their excellent art:
from elegant to boldly erotic to provocative.

Reviews and Comments
"...sensual
nudes that pay homage to the female form in a manner that is both
graceful and elegant. Very rarely do we come across a portfolio that
strikes us so deeply..." - The New Nude Magazine
"The
poses taken by his models connect the work of Chris Ball to that of
a director of theater playing with accessories and sets to tell a
secret and personal history whose meaning would remain out of reach.
" - Incubuschoice
"black and white nude images of high quality....If you are interested
in photography this is a great place" - JanesGuide
"His work is of the highest quality." - Jade:The International
Erotic Art & Literature Magazine
"The effort of creating just this quality of light and shadow
is a tribute to the torturously exquisite attention Ball bequeaths
his models. What we are allowed and enabled to envision is Ball’s
true art, the ultimate seduction, the torture." - Stevie Burns

Reviews of Theatre - Throwing Stones.
“Throwing
Stones has just opened at the Greenwich Playhouse and it enters the
dark and perverse world of child pornography in a studied and highly
creative way. Indeed, it comes close to being a totally absorbing
evaluation of what some might believe is true art while others might
cringe in horror at the sight of what they see is an indecent image.....Anton
Krause’s direction is impeccable; Helen Chadney, Christopher
Vian-Smith, Shaun Stone and Geraldine Garner generate performances
which are outstanding while Laura Murphy exudes sex from every pore.”
Roy Atterbury – Bexley Times
“Mid-life male photographer meets young, nubile female student-cum-artistic
muse - so far it’s old hat. But photographer turned playwright
Christopher John Ball and co-writer Dean Sipling, whose background
is film and television, bring the pairing into a thoroughly contemporary
world of intercepted emails, sinister insinuation and sharp retorts.
Their ‘guilty until proved innocent’ plot ... is thoroughly
watchable and believable - perhaps as a result of Ball’s professional
insights and DS Dom Lucas’ services as police advisor to the
production.” Barbara Lewis – The Stage
"This
is fringe theatre at its best, experimental, vaguely existential"
- Clifford Thurlow - The New Nude Magazine.
"The
writers... bravely tackle this controversial subject to produce a
challenging and thought-provoking modern drama." -Bromley Times
