"His images explore and play with the 'sense
of distance', 'lack of access', the 'mundane banality of modern life'.
The themes of a 'sense of distance' and 'lack of access' have become
increasingly important to Christopher as his disability deteriorates.
The reaction of 'others' to a visible impairment can often be hostile
leaving one feeling an 'outsider' 'looking in' and 'kept out'."
From Artist Statement
'London - A City and Its People' is a photographic
study, in the form of a chronicle, started by Christopher John Ball
in the 1990's. It can be regarded as a companion piece to the 'Blackburn
- a Town and Its People' essay Christopher undertook in the 1980's.
It is an ongoing project and, as of February 2015, photographs from
the back catalogue will be placed on this website at regular intervals.
The finished project will be edited down and published in
book and exhibition form at some future date.
