Negative Intensifier

  • Distilled Water :- 500ml.
  • Pottasium Dichromate :- 90g.
  • Hydrochloric Acid ( concentrated ) :- 64ml
  • Distilled Water to make up to 1 litre.
  • Use 1 + 10 parts water.

This formula can be used to produce a ' printable ' negative from one that has been underdeveloped. It can also be used upon an underexposed negative but the results will not be as dramatic.

Bleach the film until it has taken on a strong yellowish hue. Wash for 5 minutes and then redevelop in a normal print developer. Rinse and then fix and wash. This can be repeated for greater effect but note that grain will also become more apparent.
